What is counseling like?
Counseling is a process of discovering what your needs and goals are, and working together toward meeting them. Each of us are unique, and we all have areas of life that we would like to grow in. Your sessions will include the opportunity for you to share what is important to you, the challenges you face, consider options you have, and we will discover the strengths you have to work through your problems. Counseling with me is an interactive process, honoring your need to share and dialogue together about your concerns. We will consider where you currently are, your needs, and where you would like to be in the future. I will listen with compassion, offer thoughtful insights into your struggles, and provide an objective point of view. We can explore your choices together. I will become your advocate as you stretch and grow.
How long does counseling last?
Many people seek out counseling when they are working through a particular struggle or adjustment in their lives. At the onset of counseling, most people benefit from attending on a weekly basis. Once they have reached a level of mastery and are feeling better, they discover a new level of confidence in their ability to work through struggles using the tools and strategies they have learned in their counseling sessions. I will support and encourage you every step of the way. Toward the end of treatment, clients sometimes feel comfortable tapering off sessions and checking in on a less-frequent basis. Closure is important, and we will talk about this along the way.

What are your hours?
My office hours are on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, with afternoon and evening appointments available. Please contact me for current openings.
What is your fee?
$90 per 50-minute session. I also have a limited number of sliding scale fee appointments available. Please ask about these if the cost of counseling is keeping you from getting the help you desire.
Do you accept insurance?
I am a provider for EAP insurance panels: Aetna, Anthem, ACI, and Humana. If you have other coverage, I offer "Out Of Network" services, and can provide a monthly statement so you can bill your provider directly if you wish. Please check with your insurance company to determine how much of your counseling fee is covered by their "Out-of-Network Provider" agreement.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash or checks. There is a $35 charge for insufficient funds.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
I am often able to reschedule your appointment if you call several days in advance. I understand that sometimes things happen unexpectedly in life, so please call and let me know if you are unable to keep your appointment. I charge $50 if a session is missed without calling 24 hours prior to your regular appointment to cancel or reschedule.
